Total solar irradiance measurements from DIARAD/VIRGO onboard SOHO are made since 1996 with a continuous 3 minute sampling. Long term stability of measurements is of the order of 100 ppm i.e. 0.13 W/m² over 11 years. In the current operational processing the instantaneous noise level is 40 ppm. We present a method to minimise this level to the order of 30 ppm i.e 0.04 W/m². A minimisation of the noise level is important for the study of short term transient, e.g. to study the contribution of flares to TSI variability presented in another abstract in this conference.
